R. Craig Doran, P.Eng.

Mr. R. Craig Doran, P.Eng. is a licensed Professional Engineer and who began his safety career in 1988. In 1992, Mr. Doran founded En-Safe Safety Training and Consulting Services which has provided professional safety training and consulting services to over 3,000 companies. Mr. Doran has designed and project managed safety programs and program elements for small, medium and large organizations in both the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) and Construction sectors. In addition, Mr. Doran has provided training to a number of institutions at the elementary, high school, college and university levels.

When designing courses, Mr. Doran conducts extensive global research. He has attended numerous seminars, train-the-trainer courses, and manufacturer and supplier instruction sessions.

In 2015, “En-Safe Training Solutions Ltd.” acquired “En-Safe Safety Training and Consulting Services”. Conditions of the sale included that Mr. Doran could continue delivering training under the brand, “En-Safe (1992)” with no design or delivery restrictions. Therefore, there are no changes of services to existing Clients. As in decades past, these are premium facilitated Certificate courses that surpass minimum legislative requirements and exceed typical safety program training durations. Training meets applicable CSA, ANSI, and industry standards. Mr. Doran believes that clients deserve value for their expenditure. Also, workers who perform work, especially those at higher risk, deserve training to a higher standard, delivered by a Qualified Person that is an expert in the subject matter. “En-Safe (1992)” will continue to make every attempt, to meet these goals.

In addition to safety training and consulting, he also has extensive experience in workers’ compensation, environmental program design, spill response and remediation and emergency response. Mr. Doran has also conducted several accident/incident investigations including, but not limited to, fatalities and critical injuries.

In 2009, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) awarded Mr. Doran with the “Order of Honour – Member” in recognition of being a role model and ambassador for the engineering profession in conducting education outreach. In 2010, the Government of Ontario awarded Mr. Doran the “Ontario Volunteer Service Award” in recognition of his continuous years of commitment and dedication.

Michael J. Atkinson

Mike Atkinson has over 35 years of knowledge and experience in Safety, Environmental, Risk Management, and WSIB areas. He has developed and implemented Occupational Health and Safety Programs, Total Loss Control Packages and Specialized Training Programs for a variety of ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) sector firms as well as in the Construction field. Mike was educated at Humber College in their Safety Engineering Technologist Program, and started employment in the field as Corporate Safety Director for a large Fortune 500 pharmaceutical firm.

Mike has successfully operated his own private consulting firm that specialized in WSIB and WSIAT appeals, as well as Health and Safety, Workers’ Compensation issues and computer programming. Mike has further credentials in a variety of other diverse areas of safety.

He was employed by Health Care Health and Safety Association during its inception and then transferred into the Education Safety Association of Ontario which evolved into the Public Services Health & Safety Association. Further experience of having worked in a municipality for many years, as well as construction and manufacturing, makes him a well rounded safety professional.

Mike’s focus has been on hazard awareness, auditing, training and consulting. He would conduct approximately 15 JHSC Certification Part 1 sessions annually, complimented with corresponding JHSC Certification Part 2 as well as JHSC Certification Refresher programs. Mike also  provided Train the Trainer  for Certification and WHMIS. Beyond the certification material, other training included Dealing with Difficult People, Workplace Violence, Slips, Trips, & Falls, Lab Safety, Effective JHSC, Developing Your Own Safety Program, WHMIS 2015/GHS, Ladder Safety, Working At Heights, Machine Guarding, Lockout, Confined Space, Supervisor Safety, Accident Investigation and Reporting, Workplace Inspection, and many custom courses. Guest speaking at conferences such as Partners in Prevention Conference, Schedule 2 Conference, OMA Conference, OLA Conference, and other sector specific conferences, often included customized material that Mike would develop and present.

Consulting consisted of 3 specific areas – consultative meetings, audits and assessments, and group meetings such as Safety Improvement Partnership Program (SIPP) meetings. Audits varied as well but the greatest demand tended to be for the Workwell Audits. There was also a high demand for specialized audits, especially for Workplace Violence Audits as mandated under the OHSA. Mike brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in his role at En-Safe.

Kenneth G. Blyth

Ken has been an approved trainer/facilitator for En-Safe since 2002, delivering several of our courses. He also been involved in the real estate and insurance profession for over 25 years.

After completing several adult education and staff training courses at Seneca College, Ken realized he had a keen interest in educating. Ken has coached both minor hockey and baseball for decades.

In 2005, Ken took on one of the largest asbestos removal projects in Canada as the Project Manager for overseeing the removal process during the demolition of Terminal 1 at Toronto International Airport. Ken is also the co-author and trainer of En-Safe’s Asbestos courses.

 Jane Doran

Jane was born and raised in Quebec, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Concordia University.

Jane worked for 20 years for the Montreal Trust Company both in Montreal and Toronto. In addition, she obtained her Mutual Funds Investment diploma from the Trust Institute Association. In 2000, Jane left Montreal Trust, joining En-Safe and became its General Manager.

Jane has assumed the role of General Manager for En-Safe Training Solutions Ltd. (ETS) and looks forward to the new direction of ETS.

 Karen Foster

Karen was born and raised in Holland Landing, Ontario.  Karen started her working career for Goldfarb Consultants, a market research company, as a receptionist then executive assistant to the two VPs for six years. Afterwards, Karen transitioned into a legal secretary position for the next 12 years with a firm in Toronto. In 2000, Karen joined En-Safe and became its Office Manager.

Karen has assumed the role of Office Manager for En-Safe Training Solutions Ltd. (ETS) and looks forward to the new direction of ETS.
