Fall Protection System Instruction
Section 26.2 of O.Reg. 213/91 states, “An Employer shall ensure that worker who may use a fall protection system is adequately trained in its use and given adequate oral and written instructions by a Competent Person”. The person who provides the instruction prepares a written record for each worker. The written record shall include the worker’s name and dates the instruction took place, and made available to an inspector on request. A “competent person” who is:
- qualified through knowledge, training and experience to organize the work and its performance
- familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the regulations that apply to the work being performed
- aware of any actual or potential danger to health and safety in the workplace
The MOL approved WAH course is designed and delivered as a general awareness course, that is transferable from employer to employer, and may not meet the legislative requirements of Section 26.2.
